Bentley Collection with Parker Pen

Let me give you some clues; expensive, luxury, exquisite. I guess you did not remember this cheap! Theoretically, Bentley cannot be associated with cheap and nothing can be cheap from Bentley. It is against its DNA structure; expecting something cheap from Bentley is similar to expect a Lion to ask for vegetables!
Unfortunately, the lion eats vegetables. Yes, I found something really cheap in Bentley. This thing is extremely cheap, I guess even the Ford merchandise cannot offer something cheaper than this. As you see in below, that’s a Parker Rollerball Pen! A Parker pen in Bentley Collection website just for £7,92. I am not converting this into other currencies because, it is really cheap in terms of any currency on earth!
I am really shocked with this pen. Bentley supposed to offer expensive and reasonably priced stuff under the collection brand and they end up with a Parker pen. Sorry, I am really disappointed! I guess, they forgot the first rule of Collection store; do not sell anything which can be found in store, which does not have any brand at all. Parker is sold on everywhere; even it is sold in stores that do not have a name on their doors. And the brand is sold at Bentley Collection.
My advice, please remove that pen. It is totally collapsing with Bentley’s brand identity, associated adverse meanings to brand and makes it pathetic.

Key, just a Key!

For quite long time, car keys became so boring. Most of the look very similar to VW and the rest of them are quite boring. Despite the improvement in design the car keys did not change that much. You buy a Ferrari and you end up with a stupid looking key. The Mercedes has the change key, commercial to Maybach! BMW offers a very nicely designed key. The most interesting and the post came was introduced by Mercedes as usual! This is matching their brand identity. Swarovski crystal covered key for Japanese market. It is not offering anything more just more crystals and bigger price tag! 
The most cleaver key I have ever seen is from Land Rover. I know you won’t be that excited for a car but in daily basis, the stupidly designed key can turn your life into hell. Especially in case of emergency! Unless they don’t cause, they look terrible. I didn’t see a key which is offering the both. I am sure no one will ever change own car for a key but they supposed to look good and function seamlessly. And Land Rover made it, just watch the video and you will the cleaver design. Especially replacing the battery looks very easy! That’s one of the most annoying thing in a car key.

For very long time I was trying understand what is wrong with German cars. I didn’t make mistake while writing, German cars. There is always something missing with them, I could not understand but German cars never have the same taste with Italian cars. Of course, I am not licking cars to identify their differences. I am pretty sure that all German cars would taste the same :)
And recently I found the problem with German cars. The huge problem which irritates me for very long and irritates many other people, I am using sales figures of Italian cars as a proof! German cars are offering everything; perfection, design (not all of them), efficient, luxury, perfect, gray, very gray, light gray, very dark gray and this goes forever. Germans cars are doing what you told them to do! Actually if a German car goes wrong, it terribly goes wrong. This happened in 2003-2004 with Mercedes E Class, electronic brake system and electronic control modules of C Class. Anyway, they don’t cause trouble anymore. The main thing is German cars are doing what they are supposed to do and they do not questionize. They just are doing it!
A German car always handles well, the automatic screen wipers always works with the same amount of rain, engine always makes the same sound, all the parts inside the car have the same millimetric distance within each other. This combination of perfection obsession is not matching with human being because we are not perfect and we want things different. I think the best explanation for German cars is they are like trains. They are doing what they are supposed to do, trains cannot change travel anywhere else than railway and they always follow a route.
The Italian cars are like pizza, each pizza is a unique dish. It is nearly impossible to have the same pizza, even if you manage to have the same one you cannot eat in the same way. All the mozzarella cheese will try to go somewhere else, you will try to make some weird moves to eat the slice and some vegetables will fell on your trousers while you are trying to clean your trousers, your elbow will hit to pizza. Basically each time you try to eat an Italian food, you will have a new adventure like in Italian cars. Each Italian car is totally unique, I don’t know how they manage to do it but they are excellent at producing each car unique. There is no identical twin of a Ferrari 458 or Alfa Romeo MiTo or Fiat 500. Even if the factory is robotized, their supplier may not be robotized and their production technique might be influence the employees emotional conditions. 
Therefore each Italian car is like a sculpture, you cannot find the same one. And Italian cars do not react as you wished, try to control a Ferrari 599 GTO. Jeremy Clarkson tried to do it in “Italian Job” and he failed, try to control an Alfa MiTo diesel. The electronic systems will help you but the car will control you. You will do what the car is ordering you!
And lastly British cars; very basic definition, there is always something is missing. In order to proof this, just look at British taps! They have separate taps for hot and cold water. You cannot find this in other part of the world. British engineers never connect hot and cold water together, you either burn your hands or freeze your hand. There is no balance and you can face with this ugly truth even in the most prestigious hotels or in houses. Everything looks excellent, suddenly you want wash your hand, and you burn your hands!
You can find this in British cars also, everything is excellent. Design, materials, engines but you cannot have a door closing aid in a Bentley Azure. This is a very basic technology from Germans, when your door is not fully closed the hydraulic system closes for you. But you cannot have this in a Bentley Azure! This car costs more than a country and you have to close your door properly by yourself. But still I like British cars they are combination of Mr. Bean and Paul Smith shirt!Pictures' Copyrights

Last week my friend Laurence mentioned something in Costa Coffee. The stupidness of sizing your coffee! Every time you have identify the size your coffee or tea; small, medium, large and sometime it is quite pointless. I don’t like it either, because a tea is a tea. The size the same in everywhere, and for coffee also! The size of cappuccino is very clear, you don’t have to express you MBA degree ego to coffee. How I know this, I have MBA also. Based on our training, sorry education every product can be expand in order to increase profit with stupid names. Tall, Grande, Venti! I know each of these names express a capacity but nobody knows it, people are trying to learn them because it sound cool! And this is the side effects of iPod generation..jpg)

Unfortunately this MBA obsessed branding strategy virus split to Bentley also. Their “new” vehicle Continental family have different types. The cheapest one with no special name, it means you don’t want something very sporty, you don’t have many horse powers, you don’t want accurate steering wheel or you cannot afford to buy the more expensive one. The second choice is called Speed model, it has 610 horse power (normal one has 555 horse power), it is more sporty, very fast, comfortable, communicative steering wheel and more expensive. And last one is the SuperSports, that is a lunatic car with 630 horse power and can achieve 329 kph (204 mph) without any problem. Actually I don’t know why it is not capable of doing 330 kph! This car is very fast, very sporty, seats are a bit uncomfortable, very fast, has a very sexy bonnet, very fast. And also very expensive!So I really wonder, why someone wants to buy a slow Bentley? It is against its DNAs of Bentley. Hey, I have a slow Bentley! This does not sound well :( As I mentioned everything has changed now, coffee is being sold with weird sizes, everything has a category, group or something else. Actually this is the iPod era! And I don’t like it. I just want to see a lunatic Bentley with exquisite comfort at the same time.

In Sherlock Holmes, there is always a mystery, unknown, something beyond laws of physics. But in the end, he found clear answers to whole mystery. The Sherlock Holmes movie was reflecting the mystery parts of London, I think that is beyond the movie. London was always mystery and will be mystery. We may have no idea what is lying under the streets of London, what is hidden insides the buildings. .jpg)
There are many internet phenomena, lots of documentaries and they all nourish our curiosity about London. And we have no idea what were surrounded in London, because we only see the buildings we cannot see what is underneath. Yesterday, I saw a London mystery! That’s in the middle of London and anyone who visited London would have probably walked around this place. A Bentley vault! Usual vault is used for “wines” not for cars, but if you ever see thirteen Bentleys under a building with an exquisite architecture, you can use this word.

From the pictures, you can clear realize my exciting at that moment and shook the camera. I have never seen thirteen Bentleys in one place. This is not something which you can face every day, actually some people never ever see a Bentley in their whole life. Hopefully I manage to spot thirteen at the same time and at the same place.There were ten Continentals, two Arnages, one Brookland. The team was excellent, only Mulsanne was missing! Unfortunately, I am not going to tell where this place is, like National Geographic documentaries and keep the curiosity as a pleasure!

Finally, Bentley is going to offer a reasonable priced car :) For long decades Bentley was only purchased by really rich people. It was a symbol wealth, traditional sports with British heritage. Anyway time is passing and iPod generation people is looking for something else and Bentley’s uncle Audi decided to inherit a new engine to Continental models. 
In 2012, Bentley is going to offer 4,0lt V8 engine in Continental models with “reasonable” prices, this is my suggestion. In addition to this, there would be double clutch gearbox (DSG) available. As far as I know, as the engine becomes more powerful it needs heavier transmission to cope with huge amount of torque. And I also know that DSG gearbox is heavier than conventional automatics, so this new model might have some extra weight. Anyway, DSG is very good decision for Continental family. This gearbox changes gear seamlessly and it offers the F1 pleasure in your daily car.Continental Family with V8 engine will generate very respectful demand. Okay, that will be the slowest Continental but also it will be cheapest one.

Ettore Bugatti once said “Bentleys are the world’s fastest trucks”. During 1930s Bentley was known by its extra weights! And this never changed for decades, Bentley is still very heavy and very fast. Bugatti did not forget to mention their speed! Now Bugatti is a very fast truck thanks to its huge engine and gearbox, I cannot say it is a light weight car.
Bentley’s obsession with weight continued on computer world also. Recently they have released an iPhone application. Unlike other application it is 280 MB! That’s heavy weight for computer world. Like their cars, weight is a way of comprising for more comfort. All Bentley’s are heavy weighted but they always offer the most exquisite quality to its customers. They have same idea on their iPhone application also.
It is the one of the best designed iPhone application, especially the quality of high definition videos and photos are amazing. You cannot find detailed information about their cars, it is a mobile catalogue for iPhone. Hopefully despite its heavy weight, application is working very smoothly like a Continental GT Speed!You can download from iTunes.

I don’t like to publish about new car pictures or news. You can find all these things from many web sites. Sometimes I ignore my own rule like today, because new Bentley Continental GT is revealed today. 
It is not a new model, a face lift. But a serious facelift! Now the front end has similar design with Mulsanne and unfortunately shares very similar interior with new VW Phaëton. That’s normal because this car is based on a Phaëton. Actually I don’t care, Continental is a great car!
As usual Continental GT offers the most exquisite luxury and craftsmanship. W12 engine is now producing 575 horsepower and 699 nm torque. This amount of torque is enough to change Moon’s orbit. And also helps to reach 100 kph in 4,4 second. This is a very good performance for something which weight nearly two and half tonnes!
Now it is offering eight speed automatic gearbox for better performance and better fuel economy. I really wonder who cares fuel economy while buying a Bentley! And in near future there will be a 4 litre V8 engine for poor people.In other words, Bentley Continental GT offers whatever you want to have in a car. Fast, four wheel drive, luxury, nice looking, German technology, British aristocracy. Unfortunately expensive.
