Nissan to Up Output Capacity for Electric Vehicle Batteries

Nissan has announced that it will increase the production capacity of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles in order to meet increasing demand worldwide.

The automaker said that Li-ion battery production output at Automotive Energy Supply Corp., a joint venture between itself and NEC Group in Zama, Japan, will be increased to 90,000 units annually from the originally planned 54,000.

Nissan said that it plans to set up a new production line at the facility in order to increase production.
