The best or what? Mercedes-Benz
Thursday, March 10, 2011You might have noticed Mercedes's new slogan, the best of nothing! They revealed this heavily creativity involved slogan on January. Based on Mercedes's explanation this new slogan means; perfection, fascination and responsibility. Honestly I did not get the same message instead I found it quite basic and raw.
The best or nothing sounds really impressive but it may not create the same impression on every consumer. When you see an A Class; you will understand that it is not the best and mainly focused on nothing part. On the other hand, if you order a Mercedes with no options, what you will get is basically nothing. In each Mercedes, everything is optional; I am sure they will try to offer fourth wheel as optional but that’s quite impossible!
From the Mercedes's pricing strategy, I can suggest that; if you don't have money you may not have the best. If you have lots of money, why you will buy a Mercedes. For instance, Range Rover is the best luxury SUV currently on market, whether you like it or not.
Despite all those facts, Mercedes is the most innovative automotive company on market. With their contemporary safety technologies, it is nearly impossible to have an accident. This is same for engine, drive train and other technologies also, but this new slogan does not reflect an of these. Their previous slogan was much better.
And here is the option list for Mercedes S-Class

Very green Range Rover
Monday, March 7, 2011I know that some people really don’t like SUV, they can say lots of reason to express their hate towards these vehicles. I am not going to argue with those arguments. However Range Rover Evoque has something really creative :)
Range Rover’s new model Evoque, small Range Rover, offer very low levels of CO2 for an SUV vehicle. But they didn’t stop here! Now they are offering something really green. They are not offering any very special green colour, they are offering bike carrier for roof.
You are buying Range Rover Evoque, one of the smallest SUV on market to fit anywhere in a city and you decide to ride bike. However there is a problem, with your luxury clothes you may not wish to take the bike down from the roof. Honestly, I have no idea how you can lift a bike on a roof on of an SUV. That person has to be something similar to Hercules and those guys usual do not fit to small SUVs.
If you wish to be green and be more green, buy Evoque with roof bike carrier!

Range Rover Autobiography iPad Edition
Wednesday, March 2, 2011Another Range Rover is revealed in Geneva Motorshow. This new model is Range Rover Autobiography iPad Edition, sorry!!! Ultimate Edition. Very basically, this new model is a sign of Land Rover’s ambition to position the Range Rover into upper segment to compete with any potential SUV from Bentley or Aston Martin. For long years, Range Rover perceived as a luxury SUV but never been sophisticated like an Aston Martin or Bentley or Rolls Royce.
However, Aston Martin revealed a concept SUV and Bentley can reveal an SUV based on Audi Q7 at any moment. Therefore Range Rover has to be redefined. This new Ultimate Edition will turn Vogue into a very plain model. This edition has lots of highly crafted wood everywhere inside the car which I love very much :) The rear seat are only two, no room for third person. And this seating strategy is a clear signal of Range Rover’s future strategy. Like in Rolls Royce, Bentley and Maybach the rear seats are totally a different world. There are exquisite cup holders, again lots of leather and wood. Individual weather control buttons, buttons to play with your seats position. And there are two iPads with Bluetooth keyboards. Apple charges extra money for Bluetooth keyboards! These iPads has a tiny problem, are they going to be iPad 1 or iPad 2? I know this sounds really stupid but when you pay a lot of money for a car, you wish to have every equipment is latest ones, not from the warehouse. Probably those iPad will be second generation.
I think this new Range Rover “Bentley and Aston Martin, I am coming with iPad” edition will definitely increase the sales figures of Land Rover!

Range Rover with more fashion
Monday, February 28, 2011The best thing about automotive industry is, you can learn different brands all the time. I am sure many fashion addicted people knew this brand but I have just discovered it by Range Rover, Marchesa. When I first read this brand, it did not remind me anything. I had nothing to write or say. My brain searched for data but the result was no files found!
Marchesa is a British brand found by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig in 2004. It is quite new, actually as old as the Discovery 3! Anyway, when I checked their website I realized why I never heard of this brand. They only design night dressed and it is quite impossible see them at day time.
The reason why I mentioned here, Georgina’s video on Land Rover website. She described the Range Rover much better than many car fanatics, actually better than many dealers. She highlighted the diversifying character of Range Rover very simply and clearly. You can watch the video below and summary is Range Rover is made of pure luxury!
Okay, I know Germans offer much better technology, this obvious but they are leak of product soul and adequate luxury. I have never seen a BMW X5 with these luxury details.

VW Touareg vs. Range Rover video with some mistakes !!!
Sunday, February 6, 2011
Honestly I really like Volkswagen vehicles, they are really well built, and they offer good features with reasonable price. Actually sometimes overpriced but still deserves that money. But they look boring, most of them looking boring. Except GTi models, I would not buy any VW with emotional reasons.
Recently VW USA released a video for new Touareg on YouTube. And it is comparing the Touareg with an unknown brand which sounds like it is from UK! Let’s guess the brand; Bentley (They don’t offer SUV), Lotus (No SUV), Rolls Royce (No SUV), Land Rover (Lots of SUV). Actually the video is comparing Touareg with Range Rover. (Range Rover is a brand of Land Rover.)
The scenario is really creative, I appreciated the PR team but they did lots of mistakes! I guess they did not read the Range Rover’s option list and features. Let’s start with first feature of Range Rover; Terrain Response! And it is not available on Touareg! I never seen a knob to select the terrain surface to alter the vehicle’s driving dynamics; such as braking and throttle response. In other words, with Range Rover you can off road even if you have no idea of what is the meaning off road. And secondly, the Touareg without off road, it is totally useless! Don’t every try off road because it cannot do it. The Range Rover offers, Low Range gear box and central differential lock. This means, you can handle with serious off road. With Touareg, you can park on sidewalks in terms of off road! (You need to pay for extra to have off road package with Touareg and it comes with six (6) speed auto transmission not eight (8) !)Then the seats, Range Rover offers leather and heated seats as standard! This is not Suzuki Vitara! Also air suspension is standard, this helps to raise and lower the vehicles and travel with comfort. I guess it is optional in Touareg. Also Range Rover offers 8 speed automatic transmission. Sorry VW, you are not the only product with 8 speed auto because it is produced a by firm called ZF not by VW!
The CD player in Touareg, very nice :) If we were in 1995, it would sound a very good feature but now even the Chinese cars offer CD player. And what are you going to be with dual SD card reader? I really wonder :) Also Range Rover offers ventilated seats, electrically adjustable rear seats, Autobiography bespoke programme to create your unique Range Rover with endless colour scheme. And lastly, you buy a Range Rover! Addition to these features, a car which never looks old or looks out-dated. Just look around, have you ever seen an out-dated Range Rover, I think the previous Touareg was outside from the first moment :)
I don’t have any negative feelings with Touareg but I would never buy it. On the other hand, it really offers state of the art technologies but the PR firm should have studied the Range Rover better!!! It is really tough competitors. In other words, if you are planning to construct a building more impressive than Pyramids, you have to study really well !

Hello Evoque: Istanbul
Monday, January 24, 2011
I never like to write about local topics in my blog, I would like to write thing which can be catch the interest of whole internet users. In other terms; think global, speak global! (I made this now) For that reason, I never discuss on very local issues but this time I would like to do it :)
Now there is an exquisite campaign is going on with Range Rover Evoque. (Land Rover’s new small and luxury SUV vehicle which is placed under the Range Rover brand.) You can find many articles about Evoque in my blog, because I really love the vehicle. And this great SUV has a very eye-catching website called HelloEvoque.Com. This website linked to Pulse of the City mobile application and your routes are being uploaded to this website.
When this campaign first started, there were only couple of cities and I mentioned on my blog to add other cities such as Istanbul. I am not saying Istanbul because I am from Turkey, I am saying Istanbul because it is one of the unique cities on earth and it should be a part of the campaign. I don’t know whether the PR agency read my blog and changed their decision but now you can see the Istanbul as well! However there is question mark on website. In other cities you can see various people who are involved with arts, music, acting or in journalism and they talk about their journey with Range Rover Evoque on that city! Hopefully the agency picked up really respectful people and avoided “popular culture” celebrities. Range Rover’s brand identity matches with the people. And it is good to avoid popular culture’s celebrities! You can see those people on everywhere, they are too much popular for their short popularity time-frame and it becomes unfortunate to see a good product with too much popular culture.
Since now Land Rover PR Team chosen very good profile and I do hope that they will do the same with Istanbul also. I do not wish to see some Turkish pop star celebrities or models or some people who may overlap with the Range Rover’s brand identity. I am sure that the Land Rover’s Turkish distributor Borusan Automotive’s PR firm will not a mistake like this. I just want to express my feelings on this project :)

The good looking Mini: Paceman
Tuesday, January 18, 2011
Recently Mini released their best looking vehicle, Paceman. Actually it is a concept vehicle not yet in production but I can say one thing about it; the best looking Mini. I have never liked any Minis. They are not bad cars but I never liked their design, therefore they were not in my area of interest. However this new vehicle looks totally different. It is a descent coupe and looks really beautiful!
Mini calls this vehicle Sport Activity Coupe (SAC) which is three door version of Countryman. Don’t be fooled by the new definition. It shares the same platform with Countryman and offers four wheel drive, so that’s three door version of Countryman.
Unfortunately this Paceman will cause a serious trouble for consumers. Many consumers are not interested on cars that much and they first look at the design. So, Paceman will be compared with normal Mini models. In other words, Mini created a competitor for its own model range! Consumers will try to understand why to prefer Paceman instead of traditional one and marketing team will say many things which do not mean anything. On the other hand, Paceman will bring new customers to Mini, people like me who don’t like the current range but find Paceman is a really well designed car. But I don’t know how many people are thinking like me.
Again in terms of design; Mini Paceman is an adaption of BMW X6 for Mini! Nothing really special. They are both coupe styled vehicles and offer four wheel drive. Of course, Paceman offers three doors and optional four wheel drive but the design concept shares common identity. Therefore, I am predicting a different customer range for this vehicle.
Whatever Mini says SAC or anything else, it will be a competitor for Range Rover Evoque. But they satisfy totally different needs!Sorry Audi !!!
Monday, January 17, 2011
I have just watched the Audi A8’s US commercial and I can say one thing, it is excellent in terms of commercial but Audi cannot sell more cars then Mercedes S-Class. I do know that Audi’s main aim is to create a distinctive brand image between Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series but it is really hard. What do you offer Audi A8 different than S-Class or 7 Series? The most comfortable one is the Mercedes S-Class and most sportive one is BMW 7-Series. And also the most prestigious one is S-Class in most of the world. In terms of technology, Mercedes is the leader and economy BMW is the leader. So it is really hard!Audi is trying it best and introduced a great A8 in all time but S-Class rules this segment! This is the real ugly truth! It is like Range Rover vs. whole SUV market.
My own choice ? BMW 7 Series, because it is the best looking!

Mini Countryman in faux snow
Sunday, January 9, 2011
Mini is not my favourite car brand. Despite its excellent drive train and go kart like driving experience, the design and its target group caused me to ignore it! Many times I tried to like the Mini but it never happened. In first generation, the engine was coming from Brazil and produced by Chrysler! This was not something very nice to see in a new car. Many people skipped this problem but it was the reason why Mini was eating petrol like nothing else. In second generation, the engine is replaced with PSA Group (Peugeot Citroën) engines and they are better but nothing has changed in terms of design. In addition, more snobs bought Mini and this was worse than Chrysler engine.
However Mini Clubman changed my view on Mini because I love the Rolls Royce style doors. And Clubman has one and it also has a Ford Transit style doors at the back. Clubman is the only vehicle which combines Ford Transit and Rolls Royce Phantom! The suicide door is a nice but the rest is the same! Hopefully, snobs did not like it that much :)
And lastly, Countryman. This sounds like an American V8 powered pickup! New Countryman with 6,2lt V8 engine with more loading and towing capacity and bigger than your neighbour’s house :) Unfortunately it was a semi SUV with interesting interior. Actually consumers identify Countryman, as a more comfortable Mini. Countryman offers easy access, more doors and bigger boots. Nobody would ever care about its incapable off road capabilities. And many car magazines compared Countryman with Volkswagen Golf and Skoa Yeti. Nothing can be worse than these.
The incapable off road capabilities, or should I say faux off road capability! When I watched the Mini Countryman’s advertisement on YouTube, I remembered the word faux! In advertisement, two people were trying to clean the “faux” snow from the road and the Mini Countryman (thanks to it “real” four wheel drive) destroys the wall of “faux” snow and surprises people. Unfortunately, there is no plastic snow on earth, all we see is foam glass or something like that. I think it is a product of petrol and being used in most for packing industry and for making fakes snows. (It used to be very popular but not anymore). So, what I learned from this advertisement? I still don’t like Mini and I have solid reasons and Mini Countryman offers excellent traction in faux snow :)Despite the adverse conditions of Countryman, it has the best front look in whole Mini range. I really like the front design of Countryman. It is much much better than any other Mini!

new Range Rover Evoque has remained
Friday, December 17, 2010
The new Range Rover Evoque has remained remarkably true to the LRX show car as the only visible differences concern some minor details such as the exposed door handles and the larger (and apparently far more practical for everyday use) exterior mirrors.I wanted to sell my Range Rover 2.9 Td6 Vogue SE Auto, but I was dreading it due to all the problems I'd encountered in the past. For some reason
All NEw Range Rover Evoque coming
The exclusivity and luxury image of the car was enhanced with the new variations of the off roader in 2003. The Range Rover Vogue was introduced as the top of the range model. The RR Sport saw the Range Rover appeal to the high end market, with the car being road based, although the Sport had not lost its ancestors roots and could still handle itself off road well. With an ever increasing four
Ready for Snow?
Wednesday, December 8, 2010Nowadays in UK it started to snow. Actually north parts of UK are very familiar with the snow but, I cannot say the same thing for the rest of the UK. People still don’t know what to do while driving in snow. Basically, it is more fun than normal road condition, if you have proper tyres. If you don’t have proper tyres, it will be an interesting adventure.
However if you own a Land Rover vehicle and replaced your tyres with proper tyres. You don’t need to worry about the snow because, Land Rover’s know how to drive in snow. They are trained at Coventry for how to drive in snow, mud, rock, sand, grass and etc. Actually there is feature called Terrain Response, many owners don’t know it, which has pre-defined road conditions for very traction. You just select the appropriate terrain and whole electronic systems adjust its parameters.
For nowadays in UK, you should select Snow mode and don’t worry for anything. More basically, this system turns high heels into Wellington boots, t-shirt and jeans into suit :)
