Fiat 500 cover by Louis Vuitton

Monday, July 12, 2010
Yesterday Fiat announced their new micro sized petrol engine. 0,9lt engine with just two cylinders and producing up to 105 horsepower. Yes, it is less than one litre and two cylinders. Technically it is slightly bigger than a iPad!

This new TwinAir micro sized engine is also greener and producing less CO2, but I don’t know how much it is. Fiat did not provide any data for this. 0,9lt engine with two cylinders cannot make more CO2 than a couple of trees.

Fiat 500 is my most favourite car. Unlike Mini, this car has its own unique soul. You can find the excitement of the original 500 and touch of quality with reasonable price. That’s main point that diversifies from Mini, a normal price not a price of a small island for a small car.

Honestly, Fiat 500 is giving you everything which you can need in a car. Electronic climate control, glass roof, leather seat, automatic gearbox, micro sized engine, excellent design, xenon headlights, safety features and many other abbreviations. All of these things are packed in a very normal price! Apple is offering many thing with iPhone 4 but charging catastrophic amount of money.

When we talked about iPhone, we cannot ignore the sexy stuff of iPhone. Actually major reason to own one. Louis Vuitton accessories! LV is offering very sexy and expensive bag for iPhone, iPad and iPod. High quality finished leather is covering your ridiculously expensive gadgets. When I thought about the size of two cylinder Fiat 500 engine, I guess LV can make a bag for it. As you can see from the pictures, engine is that small.

Actually I have a better idea for LV. They should start to offer car covers and start from Fiat 500. You will have a leather car cover which will fit exactly to your car. For example; Fiat 500 cover will fit only to Fiat 500, nothing else! Of course it will be leather with LV logos everywhere. I guess many people will buy this cover, even if their car is parked somewhere inside.

A new trend, animal print interior for pink cars

Monday, July 5, 2010
Last week I saw the pink Fiat 500 for the first time. Of course, this is not something very unusual; pink is normal colour like red, blue or white. The interesting point when you offer pink as a colour option in a car, you directly targeted to women customers. Probably no man will ever buy a pink coloured car! Okay, may be a very cheap pink Bugatti Veyron can find some men customers but in general terms pink is for women.

Offering pink in colour range of a car is a risky decision. Some of the potential men customers place the car into “ignore it” section and you might loss some customers. On the other hand, it can be beneficial! Women customers tend to shop quicker than men, this is something very clear :)

This can make the pink colour as a reasonable option in automotive industry. Especially I can suggest this for Mercedes CLC! As the CLC is a total catastrophe, what can go wrong more? Just add pink colour to option list and you might have some new women customers. Actually Fiat 500 and Nissan Micra is offered in pink colour, honestly I did not see them on street that much but I am pretty sure that some people bought them.
However, the car companies does not take more serious action. Once you ruined the image of car by offering pink don’t stop there! Continue! And animal print option for interior. I am serious, just imagine. A pink Fiat 500 with animal print interior. If this car does not sell, I will not talk about car again! How I came up to this point? Just look at Vogue or Elle, everything is in animal print. Cheap brand, luxury brands, all of them are offering this.

I guess after the collaboration with Land Rover and Victoria Beckham, we can see these kind of interesting combination in Land Rover vehicles.

Baby Audi

Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Audi A1! For quite long time Audi was promoting its new small Car A1. After the A2's trauma, Audi hesitate to introduce a small car. What happened with A2? It was beyond its time and made from aluminium which made it pointlessly expensive as the consumers do not pay that much of attention that thing! Also it was not sharing the Audi design concept, it was too tall for the Audi brand. Anyway, Audi halted the A2 long time ago.

Audi introduced this car to have a place in popular small car segment which is dominated by Mini and Fiat 500. This is a very profitable segment, people can reach to luxury brand with reasonable prices :) Also Audi will add new customers to its portfolio. Everything sounds great! They also producing this car from steal, which is much cheaper :) Also they are offering a rear suspension which could turn your journey into nightmare!

Mini and Alfa Romeo MiTo are offering independent rear suspension. Many of you don't have no idea about this. Basically, this technology offers better handling and comfort and also more cost. Audi claims it is taking more space in that back. Anyway, what Audi A1 is offering twist beam rear axle. This means Audi saved cost and offers to feel the road in your back. Audi A1 is a sport shoes which does not have the comfort.

Don't think that A1 will cost cheaper by avoiding independent suspension. It will be expensive, actually over priced like other Audis! And many people will rush into Audi dealers to buy one. Honestly, I don't have any problem with Audi, probably it will be a high quality small car with Audi engineering and it will be a very good alternative to people who got bored of Minis! Would I buy one? Hmmm, I really don't know but there is one thing is very clear, Audi A1 is the best looking Audi! There is also Alfa Romeo MiTo with a better soul :)

Pink Fiat 500 with Pink Driving Shoes

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Since I saw the pink driving shoes in GQ Magazine by Kurt Geiger, I started to wonder which car fits best with those shoes. And I mentioned this problem in my previous post! Unfortunately, there are not many cars which are offering pink as an optional colour.

Fiat 500 is one of my favourite cars; I really like it driving character, its design, practicality and good price. And now this car has a mutual interest with Kurt Geiger's pink driving shoes! Finally today I read that Fiat 500 is offering limited edition of Pink colour! That's very cool, I finally found a car which is fitting with pink driving shoes :) Unfortunately, it is limitied edition and you can only order from internet!

Unlike other limited editions, Fiat is offering this 500 with a reasonable price which allows many people to afford but only very limited will have the chance to drive it! Eventually; pink driving shoes are available with pink Fiat 500, have fun :)

Audi A1 vs. Mini and Fiat 500

Friday, January 15, 2010
Yes, Audi is again in small segment business! After they have crashed the A2 to wall very badly in 2002, they didn’t have the mood for a small Audi, until now. As the Mini made superb hit on hot playing lists, manufacturers started to think about introducing small cars but cool ones! As usual Ford had a chance to succeed and as usual they ruined it (StreetKa). Actually it was very nice car. Fiat become very confident and introduced the new Fiat 500 and they received a demand which they have never imagined of during a world crisis. After that Alfa Romeo introduced the MiTo which is the prettiest car on market! And in Ingolstadt, Germany where the Audi’s HQ is placed started to think. And they said “Ja, wir müssen einführen, ein kleines Auto”. Of course, they remembered their traumatic experience with A2 and hesitated a bit but they didn’t give up. Now Audi A1 is here :) It looks very good, actually millions times better looking than the R8. As German traditions, it will have every kind of technology Audi is offering in other ranges.

But there is a bit problem when I read the news on internet. Audi is expecting to sell 80.000 A1s per year !?! After reading several times, I noticed that they were not speaking of a year Mars calendar. They are planning to sell 80.000 in 365 days time. Because, Mini sold more than 60.000 last year and Fiat 500 had enormous demand. So why not? Actually 80.000 is very optimist prediction. Let’s be honest, people will not sell their Minis or 500s or MiTos to buy A1!

There is something which cannot be put into number, that’s the soul. Mini and Fiat 500 have heritage brought from old times, even though the Mini is more expensive than old times. But people want to live 1960s dream again in contemporary world. It is the same with Fiat 500; 500 is bringing the black and white Italian Shows from 1960s to HD quality! They are both retro and reflecting their character. Alfa Romeo MiTo; it is Alfa Romeo. It is like a love in first sight, you won’t think about the future. You just want to be together. I cannot describe Alfa Romeo better. And Audi A1; I am pretty sure that it has more gadgets than its competitors and offer better of everything and never break down. But it is just A1, nothing else! I am sure that, people who got bored from Mini and MiTo will buy A1. However expecting 80.000 in these conditions is a very optimistic approach to automotive. My prediction is; no more than 50.000 first couple of years. We will see it later ;)

Want to be snob quickly? Here the chance! Mini First

Tuesday, December 29, 2009
Unlike Fiat 500, Mini turn into a snob icon as soon as it revealed to market again. Since it was first revealed with its "over priced" price tag, people rush into Mini. Some said, Madonna drives one; this is a cool car. So Madonna is doing yoga every day, are you doing it? Of course no! And Mini obsession spread to whole world. Especially in Turkey, East Asian countries, China, Gulf Countries; Mini turned into something which you must buy when you have a lot of money. Mini became a status symbol. I drive Mini, I have style. Matter of fact, you don't have a style, you just copy someone else and try create an impression "I have a style".

Of course, Mini is very good British German car. Drives well, good equipment, equivalent of go-kart, etc. As Mini became more popular than public buses on earth, its image started to be eroded. As a luxury good, or exiquiste brand we shouldn't see Mini in every corner in everywhere on earth. And a typical Mini stereotype emerged; rich (or trying to look rich), young (sometimes old), stylish (relatively) and some of the have the impression of Alexander the Great when they go out of the car. And BMW understood this fact very well and expanded the model range, which I totally agree with them. If people love it, give it more ;)

And the Mini is First. When you don't order with tech or design or salt package, what you will get is chilly Mini or raw Mini. As you could see from the picture below, it has plastic wheel covers like in Ford Transit. But I still salute BMW. There is a huge demand, they created a Minilogy and they are making money ;)

With the help of Mini First, people who desire to be snob has a cheaper alternative ;)

Honestly I like Mini, it offers really good technology and features and safety but it is very expensive for that car. I would rather go for Alfa Romeo MiTo which does not have the same quality with Mini but it has more passion. I know, you will say Alfa Romeo will break down, it won't have the same quality, etc but it look better ;) We are not rational always in our decision!
